Thanks to all the volunteers who made this year’s Souper Sunday event a huge success. We had nineteen volunteers and prepared 440 soup packets in record time – under two hours, including cleanup.

Thanks to Jeanne Snodgrass for hosting us at Hillel (and emergency photocopying) and to Amanda Rainey for ordering the beans for us and to all the crew (below). Consider joining us next February!

Jake & Mickey Haselswerdt – Ruth Limon – JR (Dimitri) Farthing & Yuske – Bruce & Dana Weston – Lynn & Rob Lampe – First Baptist Church pastor Kristin McAfee – Sherry Wyatt – Mychal Varner – Gary Oxenhandler – Tanya Christiansen – Kate O’Kelley & partner – Elizabeth Hornbeck & Noah Heringman – Brent Lowenberg

Tikkun Olam would appreciate any donations to help with the cost of the soup ingredients.

CBS presents a film series that explores some of the many narratives surrounding Israel. From the thought-provoking insights of The Viewing Booth and I am Israel to the humorous charm of The Band’s Visit we aim to foster understanding and respectful dialogue within our community. Each screening will be followed by a moderated group discussion.

First up: The Viewing Booth
This critically acclaimed film offers a deep dive into the power of media and the complexities of human perception. It explores how our biases shape how we interpret the world around us.

After the screening, join us for a live Q&A session with filmmaker Ra’annan Alexandrowicz and host David Wilson, followed by small group discussions. This is a rare opportunity to hear from the director himself about the film’s creation, its impact, and the larger conversation around media and perception.

from Arthur Jago, son of our beloved Jan Jago (z”l):

I wanted to send you an update on Mom’s case. The defendant pled guilty in a deal with the prosecutor’s office with a maximum sentence of 24 years in prison. The sentencing hearing will be on April 3rd at 8:30 am at the Boone County Courthouse.

I will be there in person, and the prosecutor’s
office encouraged me to reach out to family and friends to show up in
support.
