Cantor–Rabbi Ron Eichaker is Cantor Emeritus of United Hebrew Congregation in St. Louis. First ordained as Cantor from The Jewish Theological Seminary and then ordained as Rabbi from the Rabbinical Academy, Cantor – Rabbi Eichaker has served his congregation and community on many levels and in many ways.

He has been hailed by those who have worked with him and have been taught by him as a highly skilled musician, with a “warm and beautiful voice.” He has dynamic skills as a hazzan, teacher and communicator, with children and adults alike.

Those who know him are especially intrigued by his background as a competitor at the Olympic level in the javelin throw!

The CBS Board meets Thursday, November 7th at 7 pm.

Our annual Project Isaiah fundraiser over the High Holy Days was a success! Our Facebook fundraiser yielded $707. Donations at the synagogue weighed in at 289 lbs. and $229 was collected in the tzedakah bucket.

According to our Food Bank representative, these donations are “equivalent to providing 1,156 meals to our neighbors dealing with food insecurity.” And that’s not even counting the Facebook donations. Thanks to all who contributed for keeping up one of our congregation’s longstanding charitable commitments.

It’s harvest time at the Interfaith Garden as well, and we are pleased to report that this garden on CBS property generated 1,711 lbs. of fresh produce for the Food Bank.

Brent Lowenberg and Noah Heringman represent CBS on the Interfaith Garden Steering Committee, and we’d be happy to have another CBS member  join us on that committee. Contact Brent (brentdeelg@gmail.com) or Noah (heringmann@missouri.edu) to learn more, or consider attending our harvest festival at CBS on November 10th to learn more.

The Tikkun Olam committee will in November. Details to come. All are welcome.

Join Julie Rosenfeld and Aaron Krawitz for a performance of Igor Stravinsky’s amazing theater piece L’histoire du Soldat on Friday evening, November 1st at 7 pm, at First Baptist Church in downtown Columbia.

This Faustian tale of a soldier, his violin, and their conflict with the devil, features an ensemble of 7 musicians, 2 actors and a dancer. Directed by Heather Hatton, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a full staging of this work written in 1918, with a libretto by C.F. Ramuz.

One night only! Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for students
