Fill your soul with music!

Saturday, October 29th will be a special evening of uplifting Jewish music with singer-songwriter and MU alum Steven Chaitman. Steven brings inspiring, joyful sounds to Jewish groups throughout the US.  His vision is to create and strengthen community and engage the next generation of Jewish leaders.

Saturday, October 29:
5 pm – Gina’s Vegan a Go-Go food truck will be at CBS for self-pay dinner
6 pm  – Havdalah and concert
Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89071820260
Please bring sweets for the artist’s reception immediately following

Sunday, October 30
9:30 am  –  Steven sings with religious school students

The concert is free of charge and made possible by generous donations. To help ensure that we can continue to bring new Jewish music to CBS, make online donations here: https://cbsmo.org/fillyoursoul/. Or send a check payable to CBS (with notation for the sacred music fund) to 500 W Green Meadows Road, Columbia 65203.

In months with a fifth Sunday, CBS provides a full dinner to food insecure Columbians through the Loaves & Fishes program. We are serving this Sunday, October 30, and we still need donations of some food items. We have all the serving slots filled.

We need side dishes, both mac ‘n’ cheese and cole slaw. Or substitute corresponding amounts of potatoes, rice, etc., if that is easier. A few other items are still needed as well – check this link:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e4fa4aa23a7fc1-loaves3

Bring food to Wilkes Blvd. Methodist Church, 702 Wilkes Blvd. (back entrance), before 4:15 pm that day. Volunteers setting up/serving/cleaning up should arrive by 4:30 pm. We expect to serve about 150 people, and the need for volunteers to serve is especially critical.

With questions, please contact Noah at heringmann@missouri.edu or Brent at brentlg@hotmail.com.

Schlep for CBS

THANK YOU for your support for the third annual Schlep for CBS!  We had almost 40 Schleppers, numerous donors, and we raised over $1,500 for our Jewish home in mid-Missouri.

What a day!  On the 5K side, recent bar mitzvah Akiva Trachtenberg beat all runners with a blistering finish of 21:17.
Brendan Cossette had the fastest 5K time for anyone above age 18.
And youngsters Jacob Randerson-Reichlin and Millie Eisenstein both reached the 1 mile finish line in less than 10 minutes.

The rest of us got great exercise and had a blast.  And given the balmy weather, the chocolate chip cookies were warmed to perfection and enjoyed by all.

Thank you, again, for participating and for supporting the Schlep for CBS!

And a huge TODAH RABBAH to the Schlep organizers, Kim & Paul Eisenstein!

Mahjongg Cards
from DeeDee Strnad:

We’ve received our check from the National Mahjongg League, and it’s for $820!!!  The price is going up next year to $14 and $15 per card.
However, we’ll get back $5/card instead of $4.50/card. I’ll begin collecting after Thanksgiving.

Thank you, DeeDee – that’s terrific!
