Annual Meeting & Board Elections
This year, we will hold our CBS Annual Meeting on Sunday, May 19, at 10 am. The meeting will be both in person and online; click here to join via Zoom.
At the Annual Meeting, members will hear reports on the business of the Congregation and will also have the opportunity to elect members to the Board of Directors.
Each year, three members of our nine-member board have their terms expire, and the congregation elects three members to three-year terms.
This year, the terms of Michael Gardner, Seth Rosner, and Tim Parshall will expire. Michael has indicated his willingness to stand for election for another term. Seth and Tim have indicated their intention to leave the Board upon the expiration of their terms.
In April, the Congregation solicited statements of interest from possible Board candidates. This year, we had more qualified congregants express interest in Board service than we have available seats.
The Nominating Committee, composed of Ben Trachtenberg (chair), Shari Weinman, and Mary Hartigan, met individually with each member who indicated interest in Board service.
After meeting with all congregants who expressed interest, the Committee has voted to recommend the following slate to the Congregation:
Michael Gardner
Jake Johnson
Margie Sable
In addition, the following other members wish to be considered for election at the Annual Meeting, and their names will appear on the ballot:
Tisya Cooke
Debbie Kaplan
Josh Kaplan
At the Annual Meeting, eligible voters may cast votes for up to three candidates for the Board. The three members receiving the most votes will be elected.
Eligible voters may either vote in person at the Annual Meeting or may submit a proxy form, which is due in the CBS office by Friday, May 17, at noon. Click here for the proxy form.
Anyone attending the meeting by Zoom must submit a proxy form to vote. We have no mechanism for electronic voting during the Annual Meeting.
We look forward to seeing you Sunday!

The true story of Jan Karski, a Polish Catholic who worked for the Polish resistance and the Jewish underground during WWII. Karski recounts his life, capture by the Nazis, visits to a Jewish ghetto and concentration camp, and his extraordinary effort to inform the West of the Holocaust, while there was still time to stop it. His legacy of moral courage reminds us of the results of prejudice and hate.
Performance dates: May 17, 18, 24, 25 and 26. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 pm and the Sunday show is a 2 pm matinee. Tickets are $20 for all performances; click here to order. Shows will be in the Compass Listening Room at Compass, Inc. at the Hillel Foundation, 1107 University Ave.
