Tikkun Olam will hold a silent auction of donated artwork by Kelly Durante at the Chanukah party. Bidding will begin online on Facebook with additional opportunities to bid in person at the party if the BUY-IT-NOW bid hasn’t been reached.
Highest bid at the end of the party wins and the proceeds go directly to the Food Bank!
A Chanukkiyah will be lit by Chabad Rabbi Avraham Lapine near the Keyhole in front of City Hall on Tuesday, December 16th at 6 pm. There will be music and prizes for kids.
Last month, the CBS Board established the Rabbinic and Cantorial Leadership Fund as part of the Future 50 Campaign. The full text of the case for the broad campaign and for the specific leadership fund (link) lays out for the whole congregation what our financial needs are if we want to be competitive in our rabbinic leadership hiring process.
In short, we hope to gain commitments over three years (starting next July) totaling $225,000 toward that leadership fund. We have met nearly 25% of our goal, but it’s imperative that a large portion of the congregation support this effort. We don’t need the actual money yet; we are just asking for commitments. Still, it’s important that we gain a sense of how strongly our membership supports hiring a full-time rabbi or cantor.
Originally, we set a deadline of January 31, 2026, for these pledges. The timeline for hiring has shifted, however, so we would greatly appreciate having your commitments in writing by the end of December.
We urge you to read the full case statement (but please substitute December 31, 2025 with January 31, 2026!), and either contact Janna Lancaster or Tim Parshall or download, fill out and submit the Future 50 Campaign pledge form (link).
Thanks for your commitment to ensuring the CBS can thrive for another 50 years and many more.
