Our topic: Yiddish Politics in Southern States
This presentation will examine the political and cultural undertakings of these southern Jewish radicals, consider their significance to southern and Jewish histories and explore their legacies in the contemporary South.
Featured speaker will be our own Josh Parshall. Josh is the Director of History at the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life. He holds a PhD in American studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Todah Rabbah to everyone who helped make this year’s Project Isaiah a success!
We collected 311 pounds of food, an approximate 50% increase over last year. Donations were up as well, with $1,100 coming in via Facebook alone.
We’ll post a final total once all the checks have been counted.
The next CBS Book Club meeting will be Sunday, October 22nd at 3 pm. The book we will discuss is Miriam’s Kitchen: A Memoir by Elizabeth Ehrlich.
If you’d like to add your name to the book club email list, please contact Jean Ispa at ispaj@missouri.edu. All are welcome.
