Schlep for CBS
Dear Friends,

THANK YOU for your support for the second annual Schlep for CBS!  We had 62 registered Schleppers and we raised over $4,400 for our congregation.  Special thanks to Noah Heringman, Janna Lancaster, Alix Cossette, and Rabbi Phil Cohen for their fundraising efforts.  Rabbi Cohen hauled in $1,373!

And congrats to race winners Sachiko Murashita and Noah Heringman… these mighty schleppers will be enshrined on the Schlep plaque!

Thank you, again.  We look forward to next year!

With appreciation,
Kim & Paul Eisenstein

Editor’s note: And a huge TODAH RABBAH to Kim and Paul for organizing the Schlep!!

The Schleppers; the magnificent and highly prized Schlep honor plaque
Tikkun Olam
We are gathering information and getting ready to help settle the Afghan refugees arriving in central Missouri. Specific information about how to help will be provided as soon as arrangements are made.

Please mark your calendars for the next fifth Sunday dinner on January 30th. Please watch eShalom in the meantime for opportunities to sponsor families through the Voluntary Action Center (the Christmas mitzvah)  this holiday season.

Congregants are welcome to bring their pumpkins and their autumn leaves (no branches or debris, please) to the Interfaith Garden for us to compost.  Leaves can be left in their bags next to compost bins.  Pumpkins should be placed in the first bin only, closest to the big tool container.

Seminarion with Rabbi Cohen
Seminarion is cancelled Monday, November 15

Rabbi Cohen’s Seminarion class meets on Mondays at 7 pm via Zoom.

We are discussing antisemitism, its history and how what historian Robert Wistrich called The Oldest Hatred is manifesting itself in the world today.

Following our exploration of antisemitism, Rabbi Cohen will next present a 3-session workshop on writing ethical wills.

Join in via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84417061214

Desserts for True North
The True North shelter had a flood and they are not accepting any food donations right now.  Our CBS coordinator, Michelle Golden, will keep in touch with them and when they are back up and running we’ll post the information here.
Shop Locally for Chanukkah
The downtown children’s bookstore, The Speckled Frog, has many Chanukkah items in stock this year: books, candles, chanukiyot, etc.
If you can shop there, it would encourage the owner to continue to carry these items.

Donations
Donations to CBS are a good way to remember or honor people and special life events. Your gift can be directed to the CBS general fund, the rabbi’s discretionary fund (RDF), the library, the Sasha Yelon book fund, the school scholarship fund or the sacred music fund.

Send a check to CBS, 500 W Green Meadows Rd, Columbia 65203, with a note with details about honorees and where you’d like the notification sent. We’ll send a handwritten card as you direct.
Tell & Kvell!
Have you received an award or a promotion, welcomed a new child to your family, or otherwise have reason to kvell? Share your good news with your CBS friends. Send an email to Mary at maxmax@mchsi.com to include in eShalom.
