Hello Congregation Beth Shalom!

At the writing of this, I have now been here just over a week and am starting to get in the swing of things. This includes writing this very article for the weekly newsletter.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you and hope we’ll have the chance to meet outside of the synagogue so I can begin to get to know you.

Not only have I been slowly getting to know the board and volunteers, but also getting to know the Temple grounds, the library, the school and the Columbia area in general.

The cadre of volunteers that works diligently keeping up the community garden is fabulous. I understand that they produce nearly 2,000 lbs. of produce each year for the local food bank; truly admirable work.

The flower garden and the playground area are also really quite wonderful and a draw to young and old alike; though I don’t think I’m going down the slide any time soon.

If you’re interested, reach out and we can take a couple of us on the MKT trail. It’ll give us time to chat and breathe. We probably should schedule that in the morning though, this is a lot of hot.

You can reach out to me at the office or on my email cbsrabbi@cbsmo.org. I look forward to getting to know you and am so excited to be here in your community.

At the July meeting, the Board of Directors voted to appoint Leah Cohn to the vacant seat on the Board, with a term scheduled to run through spring 2028.

The Board thanks Leah for her willingness to serve.

The CBS PrideFest committee will hold its first meeting Sunday, July 19 @ 10 am via Zoom. To participate, contact Rich Iken (rich.iken@gmail.com).

Mid-Mo Pridefest will be Saturday and Sunday, September 26 & 27 in the North Village Arts District. More details and signups will follow.
