Rabbi Lerner’s 1st Service as CBS Rabbi
Fri July 3 @ 7 pm
Dear Friends,

As you likely know, Rabbi Roger Lerner will soon be both our Rabbi and the director of our school. In that capacity, some of Debbie Kaplan’s administrative functionality (e.g. submitting payroll, ensuring classrooms are set up, arranging subs, on-site supervision, etc … ) is moving to a new part-time position.

This position does not need to be held by someone who is Jewish.  We envision the person for this role as someone with impeccable organizational skills and proven strength in working with children, among other skills.

You’ll see the job description below.  If you know someone who you think would be a good fit, please suggest that they apply.

Thanks and l’hitraot,

Marc Alexander
Education Committee Chair
CBS Board Vice President

Part Time Religious School & Youth Program Director

Congregation Beth Shalom is seeking a part-time Religious School & Youth Program Administrator to oversee the day-to-day operation of our Religious School, Hebrew School, and youth programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting, onboarding, and supervising teachers and staff
  • Coordinating student registration, schedules, communications, and school records
  • Supporting curriculum implementation and classroom operations
  • Serving as a liaison among families, faculty, the Rabbi, committees, and the Board
  • Assisting with the logistics of special events, holiday programs, youth activities, and B’nai Mitzvah preparation
  • Maintaining a safe, welcoming, and organized learning environment
  • Managing budgets, supplies, and administrative processes related to school programs

The Administrator is expected to be present during Sunday and Wednesday school sessions, attend selected school events, and work closely with the Rabbi and Education Committee to support the congregation’s educational mission.

The Administrator will be supervised by our full-time rabbi, who will serve as Religious School Director, along with the synagogue’s volunteer leadership.

This position is anticipated to require 10 hours/week from August to May. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are required. Candidates should be comfortable using email, word processing, and spreadsheet software, online registration systems, and other basic computer applications. Experience in education, youth programming, nonprofit administration or a related field is preferred.

Email your resume to mvalexan@gmail.com to apply for this position. Applications received by July 3, 2026, will receive full consideration. The position will remain open until filled.

The CBS Book Club will meet at the Farmhouse on Sunday, August 23rd at 3 pm to discuss The Bible with and Without Jesus: How Jews and Christians Read the Same Stories Differently by Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Zvi Brettler.
