CBS Board Meeting
Thu June 4 @ 7 pm

The CBS Board of Directors meets Thursday, June 4 at 7 pm.
Click here to attend via Zoom
At the annual meeting three board members were chosen: Marc Alexander, Tisya Cooke and Michael Gardner.

Board members then selected Ben Trachtenberg as president, Marc Alexander vice-president, Michael Gardner treasurer and Tisya Cooke secretary.

Rabbi Roger Lerner officially starts his work with us on July 1st. The CBS Transition Committee is excited to welcome him and to help him settle in.

One of our tasks is setting up social get-togethers with congregants. This may include meals in members’ homes, gatherings in local coffee shops or at CBS, or activities such as walks or bike rides on the Katy Trail.

If you are interested in meeting our new rabbi in a small group setting, click here to sign up.

You will be asked to sign up by categories. If you are flexible about how you would like to participate, you may sign up for more than one category (though we’ll probably only schedule you for one.). We’ll get back to you with possible dates in June, when we know the Rabbi’s schedule.

The categories on the signup sheet are:
 — I’ll host a dinner in my home for up to eight people (can be potluck)
 — I’ll contribute a course to a dinner in someone’s home
 — I’d like to go out for a meal or coffee
 — I’d like to meet in a small group at CBS
 — I’d like to go for a bike ride on the Katy Trail with the rabbi and a small group of congregants
— I’d like to go for a walk in Rock Bridge State Park or on the Katy trail with the rabbi and a small group of congregants

Also, we’d like to collect welcome messages and suggestions from members for getting to know Columbia and the area – favorite coffee shops, restaurants, hiking trails, museums, galleries, etc. We’ll provide blank cards at the CBS annual meeting (next Sunday, May 17th at 10 am). Or send a note to Judith at goodmanjc@health.missouri.edu.

With thanks,

Transition Committee
Judith Goodman, chair
Emily Colvin, Mary Hartigan, Jessica Messing, Tim Parshall, Sheri Radman, Margie Sable, Tony Winkler
In months with a fifth Sunday, CBS provides a full dinner to fellow Columbians in need through the Loaves & Fishes program. We are serving Sunday, May 31st, and we need donations of food items as well as volunteers to set up, serve, and clean up.

Bring food to the Ashley Street Center, 1509 Ashley Street (use the door with the ramp), at 3:30 pm that day. Volunteers setting up/serving should also arrive by 3:30 pm. Clean-up crew should arrive by 5:30 pm.

We expect to serve about 150 meals, and the need for volunteers to serve is especially critical.

Click here for the sign-up list. And thanks!
