In months with a fifth Sunday, CBS provides a full dinner to fellow Columbians in need through the Loaves & Fishes program. We are serving Sunday, March 29th, and we need donations of food items as well as volunteers to set up, serve, and clean up.
Bring food to the Ashley Street Center, 1509 Ashley Street (use the door with the ramp), at 3:30 pm that day. Volunteers setting up/serving should also arrive by 3:30 pm. Clean-up crew should arrive by 5:30 pm.
We expect to serve about 150 meals, and the need for volunteers to serve is especially critical.
NOTE: The Sabbath Queen event will be preceded by CBS’s Reform Kabbalat Shabbat service at 6:30 pm using the Mishkan Tefilah siddur. No tickets or prior sign-up are required for the 6:30 pm service.
Following the 6:30 pm service, Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie leads an extraordinary Friday feast with ritual, live music, learning, and conversation, facilitated by Rabbi Amichai, Sandi DuBowski and musician Jordan Wax
Catered by Goldie’s (challah, soup, salad, treats) ~ BYOB ~ suggested donation is $20
Rabbi Amichai is featured in the “Sabbath Queen” documentary, which will be screened on Thursday, April 9 at Ragtag Cinema. Learn more at http://sabbathqueen.com
