Dan Edidin



Dan Edidin has been living in Columbia since 1995 and has been a member of CBS since 1997. He and his wife Tanya have two children, Rachel who is a sophomore at Hickman and Ben who is in 8th grade at West.

Shari Weinman

Vice President

Shari Weinman Shari Weinman is a mom and a Litigation Attorney with Shelter Insurance Companies. Originally from St. Louis, she received her undergraduate and law degrees at the University. Shari worked as a lawyer in Kansas City for 11 years before returning to Columbia in 2002. In college she was president of the now defunct Alpha Beta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority. In Kansas City, Shari served on the Board of Directors for the Jewish Community Relations Bureau and as a member the Young Leadership Cabinet for the Kansas City Jewish Federation/UJC. She went on a UJC sponsored mission to Israel in 1998. Shari has served CBS as a member of the religious practices committee. She is also a Master Gardener through the Boone County Extension Service. 

Steve Weinstein


Steve Weinstien

Steve Weinstein is married to Mary. They have 3 grown children, all graduates of CBS, each having attended Hebrew and Sunday school through high school; in addition, they celebrated two bat mitzvahs, one bar mitzvah and one wedding! Steve has been on the Board for 17 or 18 years and served as treasurer or co-treasurer for the whole time. Currently Steve is serving as treasurer and also trying to revive the fundraising committee. Steve has been a faculty member at the UMC School of Medicine in the Urology department for 27 years.

Brenda York

Brenda York grew up in St. Louis and is an Assistant Instructor at the Child Development Lab at the University of Missouri, where she received her undergraduate degree. She has been married to her husband, Brian, for 17 years and has 2 children, Hannah & Evan, who currently attend Religious School at CBS as well as keep her very busy with different sporting and theatrical events. Brenda has served on the CBS Board since 2012 and currently serves as the co-chair of the Religious School Curriculum Committee.

Joel Shenker Shenker Joel MD Joel Shenker is a neurologist, psychologist, and public speaker. He grew up in Portland, Oregon. After a Ph.D. in psychology and an M.D. at the University of Illinois, he trained in neurology at the University of Virginia and in cognition and dementia at the University of Florida.  He is currently on faculty at the University of Missouri.  He and his wife Debbie came to Columbia in 2005 with their children Rachel and Ben.  Later, daughter Mandy and her husband Dave moved to town with their kids, Maddie and Stewie. The multi-generation Shenker clan are frequent attendees at CBS religious services. Joel was elected to the CBS Board in 2009.

Janna Lancaster   Janna Lancaster has been a member of Congregation Beth Shalom since she moved with her family to Columbia in 2008. She is the wife of David Lancaster, mother of three, and a PhD candidate and teaching assistant at the University of Missouri. Janna‚Äôs professional life revolves around environmental sustainability and urban development issues, while her personal life revolves around her family, friends, and community. As the chair of the Membership Committee at CBS, Janna enjoys welcoming people who are new to the CBS community helping them learn about all that CBS has to offer. She also co-chairs of the annual Hanukkah Party, the annual Campaign with Champagne, and as a dancer and former yoga instructor leads the occasional yoga session at CBS.
